TISS Mumbai's HRM & LR 2024-26 batch posted a Rs 66 lakh highest CTC, up from Rs 36.25 lakh a year earlier, but the median held at Rs 28 lakh and the mean rose only to Rs 28.69 lakh. Most of the gain came at the very top of the batch, while PPOs fell from 30 to 20.

TISS Mumbai's final placement report for the 2024-26 batch covers only its flagship HRM & LR programme, with 65 participating students, 17 of them women. The process ran in February 2026, and 34 companies made offers, 11 of them first-time recruiters. The highest CTC was Rs 66 lakh, the top 10% averaged Rs 49.75 lakh, the top 25% averaged Rs 40.84 lakh, the mean was Rs 28.69 lakh and the median Rs 28 lakh. 51 of 65 students (78%) received Rs 20 lakh or more, and 58 offers were in the HR domain.

Against the official 2023-25 report, the headline jumped (Rs 36.25 lakh to Rs 66 lakh) and the top-decile average rose from Rs 35.92 lakh to Rs 49.75 lakh, while the median stayed at Rs 28 lakh and the mean rose by under half a lakh. The batch was smaller (65 participants against 70), and PPOs fell from 30 to 20. The share of students at Rs 20 lakh or more slipped from 60 of 70 to 51 of 65.

The report says Consulting will take the most joiners, followed by BFSI/NBFC, Conglomerate, FMCG/FMCD, Manufacturing and IT/ITES, but it gives no offer-wise sector percentages. Its pie chart splits the 34 recruiting companies, not offers: BFSI/NBFC 20.58%, Consulting 17.64%, and Manufacturing and FMCG/FMCD 14.70% each. That split is listed under highlights rather than as a sector-of-offers chart. The report gives no total offer count, students-placed count or placement percentage.

Key takeaways

  1. Median flat at Rs 28 lakh

The median was Rs 28 lakh in both 2025 and 2026. For a typical HRM & LR graduate, the gap between years is far smaller than the jump in the headline figure suggests.

  2. The top end drove the gains

The highest CTC rose from Rs 36.25 lakh to Rs 66 lakh and the top 10% average from Rs 35.92 lakh to Rs 49.75 lakh. The mean moved only from Rs 28.20 lakh to Rs 28.69 lakh.

  3. Fewer PPOs this year

20 of 65 students (30.77%) converted pre-placement offers, down from 30 of 70 (43%) for the 2023-25 batch, so more of this batch went through the main process.

  4. Consulting led joiners, conglomerates made the most offers

Aditya Birla Group was again the largest single recruiter, but the report says Consulting will take the most joiners this year, after Conglomerates led in 2025.

  5. HR-only figures

Every number here is for the HRM & LR cohort. TISS's other Mumbai programmes and its Hyderabad, Guwahati and Tuljapur campuses publish separate brochures, if at all.

  6. AON, Deloitte, EY People Advisory Services, HUL, SKF India and…

AON, Deloitte, EY People Advisory Services, HUL, SKF India and Trident returned to campus after a gap.
