International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, commonly known as IIIT Hyderabad or IIIT-H, was established in 1998 as a deemed-to-be university under a non-profit public-private partnership model, the first institute of its kind in India. It focuses heavily on computer science, electronics and information technology research, and is known for a research-intensive culture with numerous labs working on areas such as speech and language processing, computer vision, robotics and VLSI. The institute offers a distinctive dual degree and research-oriented curriculum alongside conventional B.Tech and M.Tech programs, and its relatively small, selective undergraduate cohort has historically produced strong placement outcomes.
