Indian Institute of Technology Patna, commonly known as IIT Patna, is one of the second-generation IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament in August 2008. It began operating from a temporary campus before shifting to its permanent campus at Bihta on the outskirts of Patna, which became fully operational in 2015. The institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MSc, and PhD programs across engineering and sciences, including computer science, electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical and materials engineering. Its logo combines a gear wheel representing technology with atomic orbitals representing science, and a Shrivatsa symbol referencing Bihar’s Buddhist heritage.
