Institute of Rural Management,
Anand

The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) was established in 1979 by Dr. Verghese Kurien, the architect of India’s White Revolution, with support from the National Dairy Development Board, the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation. Based in Anand, Gujarat, at the heart of India’s cooperative dairy movement, IRMA was created specifically to train professional managers for rural producer organizations and cooperatives, a mandate that still shapes its curriculum and recruiter base today. Its flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management) draws recruiters from banking and financial services, food and agribusiness, FMCG, and the CSR and social-business sectors. In 2025, IRMA was converted by an Act of Parliament into Tribhuvan Sahkari University, a university of national importance under the Ministry of Cooperation, while continuing its placement process under the same institute and campus.
